The Boone County Fiscal Court has approved the purchase of two pieces of public works equipment officials said would help motorists better navigate the roadways amid winter weather conditions.

“To improve and modernize snow and ice removal in Boone County, the Public Works Department has budgeted for the purchase of a brine production system, as well as an anti-icing pretreatment system,” Boone County Assistant County Administrator/County Engineer Rob Franxman said.

The total price for both pieces of equipment is $68,500, including delivery, installation and training, and delivery and installation are expected 90 days after the issuance of a purchase order, Franxman said.

“These two pieces of equipment will allow the county to begin utilizing liquid deicers in addition to the standard rock salt typically used,” Franxman said.
