FLORIDA — After Hurricane Idalia moved through Central Florida, officials inspected their facilities Wednesday and started to announce reopenings.
The following information on openings and closures have been provided by the transportation or government organizations cited.
The following methods of transit have announced temporary shutdowns in anticipation of Idalia.
Governor Ron DeSantis announced that tolls would be waived beginning at 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, along Florida's west coast because of Tropical Storm Idalia.
SunRail will resume service on Thursday, Aug. 31. Crews have inspected the railway corridor following Hurricane Idalia and determined that it is safe to bring service back online. View the full schedule at SunRail.com.
All LYNX fixed-route and NeighborLink services have started to serve customers using a regular weekday schedule, the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority announced Wednesday. There might be minor delays as the entire system ramps back up to full service by 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30. ACCESS LYNX will make life-sustaining trips only Wednesday. The paratransit provider will return to full service with a reservation on Thursday. Customers are encouraged to make their appointment as soon as possible. Service updates are available at:
Road Rangers will patrol I-4 until Central Florida reaches sustained winds of 35 mph, at which time they will be pulled off the street and return when it is deemed safe.
Bus routes will be suspended beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, and remain closed Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023.
Votran has reinstated operations on select routes and is working toward complete route restoration by noon Wednesday, officials announced. Because of potential obstructions caused by Hurricane Idalia, riders may experience occasional delays and detours. Votran’s Flex Service resumed operations earlier Wednesday. Fares are being collected again. Riders are advised to stay informed by referring to the latest route updates on the myStop mobile app or by visiting https://www.votran.org.
Orlando International Airport (MCO) remains open and operational, but flight disruptions are expected throughout Wednesday, airport officials said. Delays/cancellations and bag delivery delays may occur. Check with your airline for updates in regards to your flight, airport officials said. Some carriers to Central Florida airports have announced that travelers can change or reschedule flights with the same free of charge for affected flights.Travelers are urged to contact their airlines for details.
Palm CoastThe City of Palm Coast has completed damage assessments citywide to ensure there are no potential safety hazards at any parks or facilities operated by the City of Palm Coast. At this time, the majority of parks, trails, and facilities are open Thursday. The Community Center and Tennis Center will open at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. The Palm Coast Aquatic Center will open at 1:00 p.m.

The following attractions and zoos have announced temporary shutdowns in anticipation of Idalia.
The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens has announced plans to close at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 29. The Zoo will remain closed Wednesday, Aug. 30 and officials hope to reopen on Thursday, Aug. 31.
Typhoon Lagoon water park will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 30 due to inclement weather, Disney announced. Two miniature golf courses — Winter Summerland and Fantasia Gardens — will also be closed on Wednesday.
Discovery Cove, the day resort in Orlando, will be closed Wednesday because of the projected path of Hurricane Idalia. The park plans to reopen Thursday. Anyone with reservations impacted by the closure should contact guest relations to rebook.
The Wheel and Carousell attractions at ICON Park will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 30, but many ICON Park restuarants, bars and attractions will be open for take-out and for guests looking for indoor facilities to dine and gather. For the opening hours of each venue, please call their business directly or check their websites.
City of Orlando waste collectionCommercial waste pickup resumed at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, city of Orlando officials announced. Residential storm debris pickup service will resume Thursday, Aug. 31.
Orange County waste and garbage collectionCurbside garbage, recycling, yard waste and large item pickup will be suspended in unincorporated Orange County households on Wednesday, Aug. 30. Wednesday items will be picked up on Saturday, Sept. 2.
City of Winter Park yard wasteWaste Pro will not pick up yard waste on Wednesday, Aug. 30. A makeup date to pick up onl yard waste has been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 2. Garbage will be picked up on Thursday, Aug. 31.
Recycling centers and the Baseline Transfer Station They will be open today. will be open on Tuesday. Recycle centers are typically closed on Tuesdays, so this is a change in process. All Marion County Recycle Centers and the Baseline Transfer Station will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 30. They will reopen Thursday, Aug. 31. City of Altamonte Springs trash collectionGarbage collection will resume on Thursday, Aug. 31. Because of Hurricane Idalia, missed yard waste will be collected on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
City of Winter Springs garbage collectionWastePro will not pick up regularly scheduled yard waste on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. WastePro will double up on Yard Waste pick up next week. Garbage, Recycling, and Yard Waste services will resume on the next regular service day.
City of Wildwood sanitationCity-contracted trash collection is expected to occur as scheduled Tuesday, but Friday service will be delayed until Saturday this week.
Beaches closingBeaches will close to vehicular traffic Tuesday afternoon. These will be rolling closures as each beach ramp is closed. Beachside parks will also close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29.
MOAS ClosedThe Museum of Arts & Sciences in Daytona Beach will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 29, and Wednesday, Aug. 30, in preparation for Hurricane Idalia.
Daytona Beach City OperationsCity services remain operational on Tuesday. Trash services will operate as usual Tuesday. For now, yard waste pickup remain unchanged for Wednesday.
City of Edgewater yard wasteNo yard debris will be picked up on Wednesday, Aug. 30 due to anticipated poor weather conditions. Trash and recycling pick-ups are continuing on their normal schedules.
City of Port Orange trashTrash pickup will resume Thursday, Aug. 31. Any vegetative debris from the storm will be picked up Saturday, Sept. 2 or during the regular pickup next week.
